Addendum to Harvard’s Online Security

In my previous post I forgot to mention what it takes to revive Harvard Key if it stops working for any reason. First, you have to call Harvard’s IT dept. and tell them your problem. They will ask several questions to verify your identity. Then they will call or  message you with a code number. (Up to here this is somewhat normal in today’s world).

Now you have to write down that number prominently on a blank sheet of paper, hold the paper under your chin so that the number is visible to camera lens  and take a selfie (if you can), and then send that mugshot back to the IT dept. They will match the code number sent by them and match your picture with the picture they have on file for you. If everything matches, they will do something on their end and your Harvard Key will be good again.

Since I have developed some dexterity problem in my mature age, I could not take the required selfie. I had to ask my wife to take my mugshot showing my criminal number. Below is the result. It is tough for elderly people to live in this hi-tech world!
