My heartfelt thanks to the entire medical team of the coronary care unit of Brigham and Women's Hospital of Boston for giving me a third chance at life day before yesterday. By doing a minimally invasive procedure called coronary catheterization, they opened up two of my severely blocked coronary arteries by placing tiny stents in them. I had to stay in the hospital for only one night.
Five years ago, I had landed in the ER of the same hospital with Acute Coronary Syndrome (chest pain). They did the same procedure that time also, only I needed three stents that time and two days of hospitalization.
With five stents in my heart I better be more careful now. "Three strikes and you are out" ... I am well aware of that.
