Happy birthday to me

Today is my big day. I turned 70 today. I am neither happy nor sad about it. My birthday is just a number. It means nothing to me. This one just happens to be a nice, round figure.

Actually, I feel a little sad today. Because I have nobody to celebrate my birthday. Nobody bought a cake for me.Nobody wished me "Happy Birthday". (Correction: my bank and my car dealership wished me happy birthday by e-mail!) But I am quite used to this kind of thing. In the past, my big birthdays like 50, 60, and 65 all came and went the same way. In fact, in the past not even my bank or car dealership wished me happy birthday. May be technological advancement made it possible this time. I am sure, if I live to be 75 or 80, I shall get a happy birthday message from Google. By then, they will find out my date of birth!

I am not celebrating my birthday as a special "day" by myself either. But I am going to celebrate my becoming a septuagenarian in a big way, the way I enjoy most. I am going on a grand tour of China next week. I shall visit Beijing, Wuxi, Suzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong. On my way back, I shall stop by in Los Angeles for a couple of days before returning to Boston. I am going to enjoy my life - whatever is left of it.

I shall publish my China travel photos and videos in my worldisround.com homepage and my YouTube channel respectively starting in June. Interested persons please tune in then.
